I can't get over what immense amounts of vileness and depravity would cause someone to do this. What sickens me even more is that this happens all too often, and most of the time you won't hear it on the news. Whenever you hear one of these, the reports announce statistics like 6000 shootings involving children last year, yet you only heard 1 or 2 on the news.

(I watched a lot of TV news that day.) Was it because all of the people involved had Spanish surnames? If so, I find that pretty disgusting.

It seems the violence always overshadows the good in this world. We seem to forget in the wake of tragedies like this that this world has so much to offer. Or, maybe it's because of that we are so repulsed-- that the children who lost their lives-- even the adults-- will no longer have the option to share in our joy in this place where we live. It does seem fitting that this is on the same page as Howard's 'Beautiful Places' thread. Everything doesn't even out in the end-- there is far more good. But the real evil is taking it for granted.
