Yes, Don, you need to travel more. When gardeners, like my wife and me, travel, we tend to look at gardens along the roadside and make comments like, "Nice corn," or "Our tomatoes are bigger." Raising a garden is almost a religious experience. You put those little seeds in the ground and up come little plants that before long are producing food. You have to see it to believe it. We don't have to grow a garden, but it makes eating a lot more fun. Grocery stores have nice produce, but ours is fresher. We often eat stuff that was picked only an hour before. Non-gardeners wouldn't believe the difference in flavor. I also like knowing that little or nothing has been sprayed on it, and that most of the soil has been enriched mostly with organic stuff from my own compost pile. I haven't sprayed any insecticide this year and most of the chemical fertilizer that I bought went on the yard. It will get to the garden next year in the form of composted grass and leaves.
On the other hand, I have heard gardening described as a good way to make 25 cents and hour. Howard
