Saw the movie last night. It's hella l33t. Its significantly different from the PKD story, but it definitely stands on it's own apart from the source material extremely well. The opening gambit, which takes you from an intro to Pre-Crime and what they do through to a successful murder prevention, is worth the price of admission all by itself.
The movie has some logical flaws (it'd be tough for a movie with this subject matter to be completely flaw-free, though) but in total it's a rocking-good movie that I heartily recommend to any SF fan. And if you like the movie, definitely go find the PKD story of the same name, as you'll undoubtedly like that too.
Best part of the movie, though, is that I didn't even once notice that Tom Cruise was the lead actor. I mean, yeah, of course, he's Tom Cruise and all, and he was there the whole time, but the movie didn't keep REMINDING you, "Hey, this is a Tom Cruise movie." Cruise is the type of actor who really needs a strong director to pull his best perormances out of him, and Speilberg definitely came through in that regard. It helped that you only see that goofy, "Hey, you gotta love me, I'm Tom Cruise!" grin once that I can remember in the movie, and that was only in a flashback. It's almost like if Keanu Reeves did a movie and didn't say "Whoa."
