So what's it worth?

Date: Sunday, June 2, 2002, at 18:49:01 The antique business is really strange. I bought an antique dresser at a garage sale. The lady I got it from must have thought it was worth $28. I took it home and did a little cleaning and decided it was worth about $100. So I took it to my daughter-in-law, who has an antique booth in a mall and asked her to sell it for me for a cut of the profits. She agreed and went to the mall and asked the lady who runs the place what it was worth, and she said $300. So my daughter-in-law reported this to me, and said that she thought we might reasonably expect it to bring $190. Strange business. I can't wait to see who was closest to the correct value. The only way to find out what an antique is *really* worth is to sell it. It's worth what someone will pay. Stay tuned. It may take a few weeks to sell it, but I'll report the correct figure here. |
