My baptism was an . . . interesting experience. As a Latter Day Saint, it was one of four steps in my conversion: Faith, Repentance, Baptism, and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. It was a cleansing ritual, a chance to be cleansed of my prior sins, and to prepare me to recieve personal revelation through the Holy Ghost. I don't think I have lived up to the potential I had at that moment, but at least I know I can be renewed through the Sacrament. I guess that's the most important thing I received that day: the potential to achieve perfection.

As for other issues, I believe people should only be baptised when they understand the responsibility that comes with it. Being baptised means saying, "Okay, Father, I'm going to follow your Son from now on, I promise," and realizing that if you don't, someone has to make amends for your mistake.
