You're on the right track - just keep selecting options that make logical sense (and differ your attacks each time you go through the loop) and you should eventually get it.
This is one of the most frustrating parts of the game, by the way, and I doubt anyone here aside from Sam (who wrote the game) remembers the exact attack sequence. Trial and error is your friend here. :)
