Now, that's a theological rabbit I don't particularly want to chase, but I believe that Jesus was immersed, and in the same way I wanted to be immersed. Or, at least, my mom wanted me to be immersed. :-) So I made a special request with the pastor, who looked up the matter in the Official Book of All Things Presbyterian (or something like that) and he found that immersion was actually okay! >
Hmm, interesting - I go to a Presbyterian church, and I've only seen them do a 'sprinkling' baptism once. The default is immersion (except for babies, and they don't encourage infant baptism anyway), and has been for a very long time. Before they got a baptismal tank put in under the stage, they baptized people in the local swimming pool.
I prefer the tank, personally... heheh. Although I think my dad holds the Neatest Place To Get Baptized award, as he got baptized on a church trip to Israel, in the River Jordan. He said it was freezing cold with snowmelt and full of dead fish, but hey.
