nope, it wasn't safe mode, looked a lot like it though.

I am convinced I am having troubles with my motherboard and have ordered a new one (actualy the MB and CPU have come, waiting on the DDR ram now) because it was time for an upgrade anyway, running an AMD 400Mhz chip, upgrading to an AMD 1800Mhz chip.
