I don't go to the movies much, so here goes:

> Nothing needs to be said about this. Everybody will see it, even though the backlash against Episode I was harsh. Probably won't out-gross Spiderman, though, which is pretty surprising.

I'm already guaranteed seeing this movie. Looks pretty interesting.

True. "Shrek" was one of the biggest moneymakers of last year, whereas Disney's "Atlantis" and "Emperor's New Groove" didn't do so well at the box office.

I like Scooby-Doo, but having in the past read many reviews bashing previous attempts at live-action movies based on cartoons (and my personal opinion, Disney's Inspector Gadget sucked), I shudder to think how this one will turn out.

I'm a little more interested in the upcoming Powerpuff Girls movie anyway.

You bet correctly. Man, some people just don't know when to quit.

> June 21 - Lilo & Stitch

> How odd that DreamWorks would be doing the Disney-like animated film, while Disney would be doing the...non-Disney-like animated film. An extra-terrestrial fugitive is adopted by a Hawaiian girl. Rated PG for "mild sci-fi action." Strange.

They must be pretty desperate to get people to see this one, what with placing Stitch in the most notable scenes from "The Lion King", "Aladdin", and "The Little Mermaid" in their advertisements.

> June 28 - Mr. Deeds

I don't like Adam Sandler movies. All they do is give him an excuse to yell his head off for an hour and a half.

> July 3 - Men In Black 2
>
> Enough said.

I enjoyed the first "Men in Black". It certainly beat out "Independence Day" in MY book.

> July 12 - Crocodile Hunter: The Collision Course
>
> Can you believe this? Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin saves a crocodile from poachers, but what he doesn't know is that the poachers are the CIA and the crocodile has swallowed a top secret U.S. satellite beacon. The Crocodile Hunter is better in small doses, I suspect. I can't imagine this movie will be well liked. I must say, however, that the trailer, in which Steve Irwin marvels at the powerful jowls and mighty roar of the MGM lion, is one of the most hilarious trailers I've ever seen.

He has a movie now?

Sequels have indeed been known to make the first movie look bad. The only exceptions to this theory so far have been "Star Wars" and "The Addams Family".

> July 26 - Austin Powers in Goldmember

The first one was OK...I guess.

> August 7 - Spy Kids 2: The Island of the Lost Dreams

> The first Spy Kids film was an uncommonly popular family fantasy. Whether this holds up to the original or not, I cannot speculate.

I didn't want to see the first one because so many movies and TV shows these days have been nothing more than cheesy "family is important" stories. I suspect this one will be no different.
