> The hornet foam isn't GOOD for the environment, but it's not really BAD for it either. As for spider foam: They make spider spray, no foam. You could also use a fumigator (a.k.a. bug bomb), they're the cans that you push a button and then RUN and it blasts the room full of icky icky fog that zorches spiders. Icky, but not as icky as being killed by a spider.

My family once had a black widow spider under our porch for over a year. The first time we saw it, it withdrew back underneath the porch. The next year, the cat was making terrible noises on the porch. Turns out he was growling at the black widow, so my father (who had been on wasp removal detail earlier in the week) ran inside and got the can of wasp spray. He sprayed it into the little hole in the cement where the black widow had retreated again, and she ran out it a frenzy onto the garden where my father mashed her with a broom.

I don't think the wasp spray KILLS a black widow, but I think it bugs them quite a bit. This probably wouldn't work if you just have a few spiders out in the open. It's probably best for flushing 'em out. Anything with that much force may work, too.

On to wasp removal: When I was little, I remember my grandfather knocking down a wasps nest and dowsing it in turpentine. I don't remember the exact details, but I remember that was the only one of his homemade remedies that worked! I'll have to ask him the specifics next time I see him.
