Even though the peanut butter and jelly are *together* and unable to make much of a mess when smushed tightly between two pieces of bread, this scientific principle applies mostly to the action of flipping one slice over while putting it on top (to "close" the sandwich). If you put the peanut butter piece on top, there probably won't be any nasty globs falling off of it on the way to the bread slice's final destination (that being the top of the sandwich).

Oh, wait a minute. I think that's part of the issue here. You see, I don't make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that way. I put the peanut butter on the bread, then smoosh some jelly (actually, I use jam, because jelly is user-unfriendly when it comes to spreading) around on the peanut butter, and then add the other slice of bread. Well, unless I first add some chips, and THEN add the other slice of bread.

But now that I've said all that, I don't think that is part of the issue, after all. The question was how you eat the sandwich, not how you prepare it -- though that could probably be another poll question.
