Doesn't that stuff happen to everybody? People jump to conclusions about other people and act accordingly. I'm not a little old lady with her hair in a bun, but when people find that I am a teacher, they assume that, contrary to appearence*, I must be very proper and very smart. Then they hear that I taught science and they assume I am a rocket scientist.

Another problem that I run into is that I don't drink. This is a serious social handicap. I don't get invited back to a second party sometimes. People can't believe that a teacher, much less one who doesn't drink, enjoys trips to Las Vegas and New Orleans. I also like Key West. Does that make me gay?

I have long since learned to live with this silly discrimination. Don't worry about what other people think. (I used to say that to students!)
