I'd add to the above, "lots of protein". Most of the expensive weight gain supplements which bodybuilders use are basically a more efficient way of snorking down protein, such as powdered egg white. You can gain weight by eating lots of virtually anything, but unless you want to turn into a blob, weight training combined with a higher protein intake will ensure that what you put on is muscle and not fat. Six or eight hardboiled egg whites, wholegrain toast and a banana-and-yoghurt shake for breakfast every day is the sort of thing I mean.
