This occured to me as well. I realize now that I know as much about the Israel/Palestine conflict as I do about Ireland's Catholic/Protestant conflicts or the whole IRA/UK/Northern Ireland/Home Rule thing.

Which is very little -- mainly sound bites, headlines, vocal opinions, and U2 songs.
