Nyperold - I thank you for both replies. The information certainly contains things I've never known before and wanted to. I will look for facts that challenge what is said, out of duty to doubt, but I expect to find that all of what you've written is true.

Ellmyruh - I thank you for your comments, and I think you're right. I still don't know if there's a logic to taking sides, whether it could have the leviathan effect of tumbling one side and forcing peace or if would just spread the conflict. Although, looking at what I just wrote, the prior seems doomed to fail while the latter seems doomed to succeed - and both of those are bad outcomes. So no sides it is, I'll just hope that the people who are making this misery have a change of heart. Sadly, I don't think even the citizenry of either country can at this point.
