I wouldn't mind some recommendations for a good game to rent and/or buy, based on the following criteria:

1) I suck at playing these games, so it has to be something which will both hold my interest over the seventeen years it will probably take me to finish it, and which does not take continuous 24/7 playing to master.

2) I believe the best game ever, the game which justifies the entire gaming industry all on its own, the game which God Himself would undoubtedly be playing right now if he owned a Playstation, is Metal Gear Solid.

3) The only other two games I have ever liked enough to finish are Abe's Oddyssey and MediEvil. Well, OK, I've only ALMOST finished MediEvil. But I like it a lot.

4) So far, I haven't found a first-person shooter I can play for longer than thirty seconds. I need to be able to see a little dude running around.

On several occasions I have hesitated in the shop over Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which looks pretty cool, but on the whole I'm thinking of Playstation games here, because I need something I can get cheap and second-hand, or as a rental.
