The Oscars will be starting soon, and I don't think I've ever been less confident about my guesses. I looked over my official contest entries and very nearly posted amendments to it. Should I change my Best Costume Design guess from "Gosford Park" to "Fellowship of the Ring"? Should I change my Best Actress from Halle Berry to Sissy Spacek? Should I change my Best Sound guess from "Moulin Rouge" to "Black Hawk Down"? Should I change my Best Original Screenplay guess from "Memento" to "Gosford Park" and my Best Editing guess from "Memento" to "Moulin Rouge"? I'm not even confident with my Best Picture guess.

Ultimately, I decided to leave my guesses as they are, figuring I'm not going to do well this year either way. In many cases, when the race is close, I picked the one I thought deserved it less, and then if my guess is wrong, I won't feel all that bad about it.

We'll see.

Just a reminder to anyone out there that the deadline for contest entries is less than 50 minutes away.
