I typed in "careers math" in Google and got a *lot* of possibly useful links there. One of them is below. The Mathematical Association careers page is also linked from this page. Do some research into what math majors can end up doing, and you will have a better idea of its potential value to you.
Now that I've looked through the site a bit more, and read how one math major now has a job working on assembly of nuclear missiles, my recommendation to Wes is that he majors in theatre arts, or possibly just drops out and becomes a homeless vagabond.
