Reading through all of these posts, I just had to ask... When did being abnormal become something to be proud of? I can understand someone being proud of being abnormal in that they're better at something than most other people, but when did we get it in our minds that being different is a good thing regardless of why or how we're different? Is it really that original of an idea to "think outside the box" anymore? Everyone wants to be differnent, and everyone is, and this makes everyone happy. I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem like a good sign when society as a whole starts looking for fake reasons to be proud of itself. We aren't even allowed to talk about or aknowledge differences in people without being politically incorrect or hurting the self esteem of all the people who don't have that specific trait, yet we're supposed to celebrate those differences. We've been watered down so much that instead of saying "I'm great at calculus!" we need to say "I'm different! Harray!" And *everyone* can say that, removing all reason to have pride in it. Or maybe I'm full of crap. I'm interested in what people think about this.
