He's been having these really weird, unexplained mood swings lately, whether from the pressure of having had cancer or a brain tumor or what, I don't know. . . .

I know my family troubles made me closer to my sister, so remember that some good can come out of anything. I don't know anything about cancer, but I imagine it could cause severe stress if not the actual symptoms you saw. Hopefully your father will get better, or at least not threaten your lives again. All my best goes to you and your family. > > Melanie
La Zorra, Firstly, Hugs and Best Wishes.
But. Where did your dad have the tumor? A tumor in the frontal lobe can often cause personality changes, even after it's been removed. The personality changes tend to go towards more aggression, mood swings, and a lack of concentration. There is also little insight, ie, *if* this is what's happening, your dad has no idea that he's acting this way. This sounds like what you are describing. A Tumor in the lower part of the frontal lobe, and temporal lobe, can affect memory. This could be causing the Karate flashback. Again, *emphasis on *could*. I am not a doctor, and I cannot give advice. My suggestion is, you see your GP, especially if your GP is also your dad's GP. It may be that he/she will be able to reassure you, or explain better than I can, or you may be the first to alert him/her to a problem. Of course, this advice should be filtered through what you know (and I don't) of your father's medical history, and your family politics.
samhael PS Good luck!
