Well, I finally finished the Narnia books last night. Stephen was right--_The Last Battle_ gets really really weird at the end. However, he *was* wrong in one respect. There *is* a "Last Battle" (even named as such in the text), however it isn't very climactic and the "good" guys lose.

I'm so glad I'm done with this series. I still consider it a great series for children, because I think the preachy parts will go over the head of most kids (I know it did me when I was little). However, most adults, especially those like me who hate to be "tricked" into reading a piece of fiction only to find out it is infused with the author's not-so-hidden agenda, should probably skip it. The series reminds me a lot of the books of Ayn Rand--different agenda, obviously, and I think Lewis is overall a much better write--but the type of book is the same; author's agenda thinly disguised as a work of popular fiction.
