Is it possible it's his cancer medication that is causing the mood swings and other unexplained behavior? That is (sadly) not an uncommon problem...as if just fighting the illness isn't hard enough on a person, the medication can do a major mind-bend on you too...

...you might need to talk to your mom and see if she thinks that could be part of the problem.
Just a thought; maybe they can re-assess the meds...or at very least it may help you to know *why*, or to know that he really can't help it, that it's not you or your brother causing it.

That's what came to my mind, anyway.
