Who comes up with this stuff? Ha ha!


Ok, I confess, I've been making this stuff up for 50 years and spreading in all around via whatever media is available. I stated using pony express and telegraph, and have now worked my way up to the internet. Would I lie to you? My first such expression was "Get your cotton pickin' fingers off my ever-lovin' paraphanalia." We spelled things a little differently in those days. Then I moved on to "If you get my drift," and For th' lovva Pete." And then there was the classic, "Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies." I invented "Going like sixty," back in the days when 60 was almost impossibly fast. I still use "Bigger than a barn door," even if hardly anybody ever measures in barn doors any more. Speaking of measuring, I had to revise my classic, "Give him an inch and he'll take a mile." It is now, "Give him a centimeter and he'll take a kilometer." We have to keep up with the times in this international internet community. Well it's time for me to "Bug out," "Cut a trail," "Hit the road," "Leave in a cloud of dust," "Make myself scarce," and "Depart these parts." (All original, I swear on a stack of Sears and Robuck catalogs.)
