The BBC will soon be showing a reality-TV show called "The Trench". This will be based on the war diaries of British soldiers serving inn trenches in the Somme, apparently.

The trailers that have been shown so far don't mention wether or not they'll be pitted against machine gun fire, mustard gas, or shrapnel grenades. But the sections of war diary they read out make a big thing about the strong fear of immanent death.

I think I'll have to watch an episode or two of this, just to see how much reality they've decided to include. I'm guessing that almost all of the contestants will live, though.
