I was watching with a group of girls. At 4-2, we started getting giggly, oddly enough, but we kept saying that we shouldn't get too confident, something could still happen. At 5-2 we started saying 'yes, this is ours, we've got it, nothing can happen now' but we didn't start screaming and jumping until the buzzer went.
Then we walked outside my house, which is pretty removed from major roads (my street is still paved with brick). And we could hear the honking and the screaming from the rest of the city.
Here's my question though: At the closing ceremonies, those two dinosaurs (were their jokes deliberately bad?) announced Wayne Gretzky, there was a big pause, and then they moved right into the Scott Hamilton number. Anyone know what happened there?
