My roomie in college picked up smoking cigars while I was still living there (He fortunately would smoke them outside though). I told him that for the price of what he was sending up in smoke each week, he could buy himself a new CD. (he was an avid CD collector) I don't know if he still smokes or not, but I know it got him thinking twice every time he lit up.

Also, my grandfather used to smoke cigars all the time when I was younger. It took a triple-bypass heart surgery to change his mind regarding tobacco, and he hasn't touched the stuff since.

I congratulate you for making the decision to quit before something as serious as what happened to him occurs.
