"Beaming" in to work doesn't seem to be a great option unless you have a long commute. It just means that you could be called on even more to do overtime etc because you can be at work instantaneously (although it would be very easy to go home for lunch) :-). Could you even be beamed in to work without being asked? > > A holodeck would be nice but why when you could be exploring space by warp speed? > > A universal translator would probably be a distant second on my list, simply because it would simplify communication around the world.
I voted for the warp factor. After all, time and distance are man's worst enemies, and the warp factor would be a way to deal with that. If we knew for certain that there was another intelligent race on a star 50 light years away, we could never communicate with them. By the time a message got there, and an answer returned, we would all be dead, or so old and frail and deaf, it wouldn't matter anyway. We can't even go to some places in our own solar system without giving up a major portion of our life. But with the warp factor, we could just say "phooey" on time and distance. Howard
