Adventures with the Grishnys!

If you read Grish's post about how he surprised his wife with a weekend getaway and wondered just where was the Big Secret Location: it was Louisville, which comes with a built-in Rinkie tour guide -- me!
We met on Friday at the J.B. Speed Art Museum and wandered around there for a while, marvelling at great works of art and how the guards get really worried by the sounds of popping knees. When we went down to the basement for the Native American and African exhibits, there were these two little kids there who were tearing around the museum, and when the lady who was with them started to lecture on why this was Not Acceptable, one of them replied, "But there's no one else here!" Not only is this classic kid logic ("If no one else can see me, then it isn't bad"), but we were standing in plain view. Then the little kid turns around, spies us, and goes, "Ooops."
There is also this piece in the museum's modern art section that is basically a black triangle and a yellow square. Our verdict: "Not art!" We also talked a lot about The Poseidon Adventure, but I can't remember why.
After the museum, we did a quick walking tour of UofL, including the statue of The Thinker, a bunch of buildings, and, most importantly of all, the Magical Freezer of Free Graeters' ICECEAM. I love my meal card.
Then we stuck my ICECEAM in my freezer and went back to the Grishnys' hotel room to stick theirs in their freezer. Their hotel room was spiffy and had appliances and stuff. I was impressed, anyway, but I think that's because I'm a college student and I've forgotten what full-size appliances look like.
Then we went to dinner at Lone Star Steakhouse, where I ate my first ever jalapeņo pepper while it took us forever to figure out what we were getting for our main courses. Amy and I both ended up having mushroom-involving meals; sorry, Mia. ;) And there were relatively HYOOJ knives. Heheh.
Then we went back to the hotel to plan our next move. Grish pretty much pestered Amy into going to see LOTR, but the next showtime wasn't for a while, so they taught me to play Skip-Bo while we waited. LOTR still rules, naturally. There was this hilarious woman sitting behind us who actually screamed at one point and scared us all to DEATH. Grish thought it was Amy, too, which was even funnier.
As we were coming back from LOTR, I was clinically dead of tired, and my sense of direction is not quite what it should be anyway, so I forgot a turn, and then another one on the alternate route I came up with. But we did get me home, and since Grish's sense of direction is way better than mine, they managed to get back to their hotel.
Then on Saturday they told me to go away and leave them alone so they could do romantic couple stuff, like go to Mammoth Cave. ;)
On Sunday I met them again for lunch; we went to Fazoli's, which features very good breadsticks and normal-sized, plastic, non-homicidal-lunatic-friendly cutlery. The lunch discussion was fun, (and once again, inexplicably, included The Poseidon Adventure), but I think the highlight was when Amy explained to Grish the difference between girdles and corsets. Then we took some pictures before the Grishnys went home.
