I created my website because I wanted an easy way to show online friends some photos of my boat. My site is still mainly a dumping-ground for photos (the ones of my boat are a very small proportion of it now), and sound files of me playing various instruments. Later, I added a large amount of writing in the form of a travel journal about my trip to Japan. The purpose of this was evenly divided between providing information about the trip to my friends, keeping my own record of it, and because I hadn't done any major writing projects in a while.

I don't have much interest in attracting traffic or making the site look good. I don't think it looks *bad* -- I have an aesthetic objection to sites that look horrible and are difficult to navigate -- but my site isn't the labour of artistic love that you can see in sites like Sosiqui's.
