I don't know exactly what you mean by that, but I guess it went bad, like milk staying out in the sun for too long. I don't know much about h2g2, only that I read a little bit of it a year or two ago.

Before that, I had discovered Project Galactic Guide, which, when h2g2 entered the ring, was KOed by a team of angry little copyright-enforcing lawyers. But now it seems like they're back in the game, and also seems like a much healthier thing altogether.
