I'm sure a million people have already said this, but I don't really care to read through the posts to find out who and how many, so Yes, people name cars all the time. My mom has a Thunderbird she calls Claudia Alta Taylor. Figure out who that is, and you'll get the reference.

My first car was a (deep breath, I'm so old) '72 Nova I called Aldo. His love was like a ball and chain.

Yeah. My current car is Sam. Short for Samantha. Unknown whether anyone we know and love is her namesake or not. She just told me her name. Some gentlemen saw me parking her one day, and when I said "She's brand new!" they acted surprised I called her a girl. All vessels, to my knowledge, are female.
