I've gone to sites like these and have found them funny. The only sites that enrage me are those that use photos of mentally retarded people and make fun of them (it's bullying). But, the sites you mention rub me the wrong way because I know that image is important to people (an imperfect state of existence, but one that we've been trained to live). The actual fat chicks in party hats, not the site, likely saw a photo of themselves that they liked, posted it, and hoped their friends would agree that they looked happy, lively, etc. And the thing is that they believe that its a good photo, that they look good, until someone says otherwise. Then, it gets made fun of. They can still believe that they look good, but it takes a heck of a lot of self-confidence to do that after being singled out as a joke. So, I'd love and laugh at these sites if they posted people like celebrities (who are constantly told they look good) because humor is funny, but otherwise I hate envisioning a possibly nice person losing their self esteem.
