We can have .us addresses. Generally those registries are more locally
maintained, usually at the state level then delegated to smaller entities
such as towns. So you'd more typically see grishny@town.oh.us or something
like that.

However, those domains haven't caught on as well, probably because people
would rather prospect for thisisreallylongandhardtoread.com because it ends
in .com. Well, that and you can't order up me.town.oh.us from the big
registries, but have to do it more locally.
