Technically, time travel is possible. In the time it has taken me to write this sentence, I'm several seconds farther into the future.
It's also possible at different rates-the closer you go to the speed of light, the slower time goes for you, relative to everything else. And inside the event horizon of black holes, space-time is warped sufficiently that you could spend 10 seconds equivalent to 10 thousand years on the outside.
Time travel forwards AND backwards, changing past events affecting the future, and so on make great subjects for stories and whatnot-but it's largely considered impossible.
Which is a good thing too, because I'm pretty sure if it had happened the people who figured it out would have found a way to get rid of all the computer geeks by now.
