The example I'm most familiar with is Tuvalu, whose .tv is in *hot* demand almost everywhere except in Tuvalu itself. I also used to know a number of businesses in the Cook Islands through work, and they invariably hated their .ck, since its location right after the .co tended to make their URL look like a porn site.
