Read the article, and printed it out so I can try
that at home. Sounds like that might be what
prevented my game from running. And I do
have an AGP video port, so that might be the
problem with my DVD player not running also.
I don't know about the modem / sound card
thing though.

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and
upgrade to XP.
