Actually, Uncle Jesse was going to be Hazzard County's version of King Lear, splitting up his Dukedom between Bo, Luke, and Daisy. Midway through filming the pilot episode, the big-wigs at the Network decided to shift the focus from a prime-time Shakespearean production to a show that featured cars jumping over things.
