It had credit cards and keys and cash and the usual stuff in. We'll probably find most of it tomorrow morning, thrown over someone's back fence or into a bush. The cards have been cancelled, the locks double-bolted, and the police have just left after filing a report and not drinking any tea. Ordinarily, you'd think that this sort of thing, being broken into WHILE YOU'RE IN THE NEXT ROOM, would have made me feel vulnerable or something. It didn't. Weird, that. > > Matthew
I sympathise entirely. My Mum and Dad came home about a year ago and saw instantly, upon opening the front door, that they had been burgled. Lights were on, a draught of air blew through the house and doors were open. They went to go to the phone and a noise from the back of the house made them jump. The burglars were still there. When they heard the front door opening they had gone through to the back where they broke in and were in the process of going back out. All my folks saw of them were two shadowy figures racing up the road. The video and CD player were left stacked on the table. Another minute and they'd have got them too.
