Another way to look at the differences here is to look at what is behind the writing. The Chronicles of Narnia are heavily allegorical (take a look at the BAM condensations for A Horse and His Boy, The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle--obviously, Sam and Dave have an understanding of the allegory here) and to some extent, there is an allegorical aspect to The Lord of the Rings, as well. In both cases, the allegory relates to the concepts in Christianity. In Harry Potter, there is (to my knowledge) no allegory, and if there is any, it does not relate to Christianity. This may be the reason why spiritual leaders condemn the works of Rowling and not those of Lewis or Tolkien.
All of this is not to say that I condemn the Harry Potter books. I have not read them yet myself, and look forward to getting a chance to do so, mainly to learn what all the fuss is about. I honestly don't expect that I will find a problem with them.
