So I entered a write your own beer commercial contest. To get an idea of where I'm coming from, I think the best beer commercial of all time was on an episode of The Simpsons: A group of women's rights protesters were outside Duff Brewery, disgusted with the sexual overtones on beer commercials. One of the Duff guys shakes up a bottle and sprays the women, turning them into bikini-clad party animals.

Like I said, the best beer commercial of all time.

My concept was similar: Average schmoe walks into a bar, orders a beer, and is beset with women who want to have sex with him. Apparently, not too many people recognize satire when they see it.

Some of the comments from my fellow contestants:

"The general topic of the women wanting to have sex with the man ordering the [beer] could cause some problems with the general viewing public"

"Trashy. That's your concept in a heartbeat. Trashy."

This guy got what I was going for: "This concept is almost a satire of a beer ad. It is very on-the-nose and lacking subtlety."

"... the girls didn't have to actually say 'I wanna have sex with you' " (The line actually was "I want to have sex with you.")

"I don't think the line 'I want to have sex ...' will ever be allowed in corporate beer commercials."

"I don't know about using the word 'sex' but that is a question for the lawyers. It seems familiar."

Somehow, I don't think I'm going to win.
