It featured the voice of a rather remarkable teenager named Charlotte Church. This kid is only about 17, came out of a working class neighborhood in Wales and took the music community by storm. I had heard brief clips of her singing for a couple of years, and then there she was in a 1.5 hour broadcast from Cardiff, Wales, along with the national orchestra. She sang stuff from West Side Story, Carosel, South Pacific and Carmen. Good voice with plenty of range, good stage presence, and moderately attractive to boot. She can't dance worth a flip, but doesn't need to.

I didn't catch that program, but I know of Charlotte Church. She's got a good enough voice if that's the kind of music you're into.
