Hmm if memory serves correctly it would be called the Republic of China today if the guy whose name escapes me at the moment had beaten Mao's communists.

Paganism is a broad category into which many religions could fit. I don't know if there's any particular religion that calls itself "paganism" though.

Um, short answer yes, that plus a lot of other stuff like US military presence in Saudi Arabia. A long answer would require some analysis of where Al Qaeda falls on the spectrum from virtuous freedom fighters to thuggish power-hungry nuts.
