Yes, the bottom line is that you'll either love or hate teaching, and that will be clear to you. The above responses were very good, and I'll just add two things, which can also apply to life in general. Try to see things from the other point of view, and try to see below the surface. Place yourself in the shoes of your students and imagine how they are seeing you, their peers, and life in general. This might really help if you're nervous, because after all, they don't know what to think of you, and perhaps they are also nervous.

Tough situations will arise, but that's when you try to look beneath the surface. That one student who has no desire to respect you probably has a reason for it. Try to see beyond that to the true personality beneath, and when you do find it, focus on that real part. Do this with the well-behaved students, too. They may seem like model children, but there is more to them, too.

When all is said and done, the two words I would give you would be "mutual respect." Command respect from them, show them who's boss, don't hesitate to be strict, but also respect them. You'll find that the respect will be returned.

And don't forget to have fun. Knowing that you're making a difference in a student's life is one of the most powerful feelings you can ever experience.
