They do that with the rugby here in the UK (and possibly the football too, I don't watch much of it). Luckily, it's only at half-time or the end of the match, when they superimpose the team's logo on the pitch, along with their current score. It's not really annoying, because it's not there during normal play; in fact I find it really clever, and I haven't a clue how it's done, seeing as the players walk over the logo, which is above the grass. Very cool...
