Actually, that's the only thing that really bugs me about the original Mermaid. She's going to die, but she's been good, so she gets another chance. And then, wait for it... She gets turned into a spirit of the air, who is the breeze that blows through rooms. If she enters a room with a baby that's being good, she get brownie points and is mmore likely to get an immortal soul. If she goes into a room where baby is being bad, then vice versa.
So all of you be good little babies, so the wonderful mermaid will get her immortal soul.
