This is mainly the reason why I hated the movie. "Handsome-prince-beautiful-princess" stories are so incredibly saccharine-coated I want to puke.
I also can't believe they made a sequel out of it, which is an exact RECIPROCAL of the first one (Ariel is a mermaid who wants to be a human, her daughter is a human who wants to be a mermaid).
