A breath of fresh air

I thought maybe the forum could use a breath of fresh air, and by that I mean some good news.

After reading what's going on with Brunnen-G and LynUniKikipegette (sorry...but I always think of you by all of those names :) ), I thought I'd post about something positive that happened. Before I start, I want to say to B-G and Lynette that I am very sorry to hear about what's going on in your personal lives; and this post is in no way intended to detract from that or lessen the gravity of the situation. I have been in very similar situations before and my heart goes out to the both of you.

So on to the good news.

For the last three years, my brother has been going through the various classes/workshops with a comedy group in LA called The Groundlings. Whenever he completed a class, the instructors would vote on who gets promoted to the next class, who has to repeat, and who gets cut. He made it through each level of the classes without ever having to repeat, and became a member of their Sunday company.

So for the last year and a half, he has been performing on Sunday nights at The Groundlings theater. Every six months, they would vote on who in Sunday company gets "promoted" to the main company, who stays in Sunday company, and who gets cut.

My brother has worked his tail off for the Groundlings. He juggled a job, writing sessions, rehearsals, and performances for the last year and a half and it finally paid off. He is now a member of The Groundlings main company!

For those of you unaware, The Groundlings are the premiere comedy group in the US. Many, many famous comedians/actors got there start there. Needless to say, it is a huge career boost for my brother.

I am so very proud of him and can't wait to get to LA to see a show. He will start performing sometime in January. He's getting a much-needed, and well-deserved, break for a month or so. So if any of you are in the LA area, there is one show on Friday nights, and two on Saturdays. Call ahead...it's a small theater and tickets go fast. :)
