In hopes of being at least a little helpful and not sounding too stupid, I'm going to... well, not give advice, but.. something.. anyway..

Much the same thing happened to me two months after I went off to college. In fact, so much the same that it's rather eerie. I tend to be a person who hates change and dwells on memories way too much, and it hit me really hard- suddenly my best friend didn't want anything to do with me. So I would venture to say I have at least some idea what you're feeling.

It is really tough, when you care about someone so much, to be hit with the realization that maybe they didn't care about you as much as you thought. But I think it's an inevitable part of growing up. Its so hard to keep in touch with people you're not near, and it's even harder when you're both young and still learning who you are and what you want out of life.

The best advice I can give you, not knowing the details of the situation or either of you personally, is this- if he wants to go, let him go. You've made an attempt to salvage the friendship, and that's good- but if he's not interested, the best thing you can do for yourself is to let go. Of course you will miss him, and think of him, and miss him- but just like any grieving, there comes a point where you have to move on.
