Mary Colum once said the only difference between rich people and poor people, is that the rich have more money. Whether you see that as true or not, probably affects a lot about your political philosophy.

I once read a study that said that only 4 percent of the nation was rich or poor in any meaningful way. It had quite a lot of information I didn't know that I'm sure I'll get wrong... something like 80% of the people who are in the bottom 20% don't stay there for more than a decade... and over 80 % of all millionares earned the money themselves-didn't inherit it.

I'm all for wealth. After all, I hope to amass some someday. Just economically... it provides the incentives which enable free markets to work. And arguments about lack of equity rarely are persuasive. If you look at poverty statistics over a lifetime, studying the same people, you get a much different story than the usual hopeless picture.
