Gah!! That's... just.... Gah! Point taken, though.
Though, I think, (the late) Gene Roddenberry said from the beginning that the ship and its futuristic science was just a vehicle for dramatic storytelling, they still should put a minimum of effort into checking that their science, if not plausible, isn't so painfully wrong...
Then again, I watch DOCTOR WHO, and let's not begin on its embarrassing science! :-)
